Gingerbread Houses in Clay

These "gingerbread" houses were created by my grade one students. We talked about the story of Hansel and Gretel and I asked the students to imagine their ultimate gingerbread house.

After rolling out a clay slab, students added decorations with smaller pieces of clay and textured stamps. After firing these were painted in colours that would make them seem edible. We did these a while ago, but this would make a great Christmas project.

  1. What a great idea! I will tuck this away to use for clay 2014. I love your blog. Please take a look at mine and let me know what you think!
