Weaving on CDs

The idea for this weaving project came from this amazing post at Make It... A Wonderful Life. You can see her great step-by-step tutorial HERE. I absolutely love the way hers turned out so when a box of old CDs and bags of balls of wool were donated to the school I thought I'd give this a go. We will be displaying these just in time for National Recycling Week next week.

  1. Hello! Could you elaborate a little bit on how you did the warp threads on the CDs? It looks like there are seven. I tried to contact the Make it a wonderful life blogger with the same question but got no response. I'd love to do this project this year! Thanks in advance!

  2. Jill, as long as you have an odd number of warp threads, it will work fine. Cynthia

  3. We weren't even that technical with ours - pretty sure some kids also had an even number of threads and it still worked OK. We just did whatever looked like enough so they all did it slightly differently :)

  4. Very cool. Did the warp slide at all? How did you keep it on there? Love the materials together.

  5. Thanks Erica - It was fine if we tied it on and made sure we wrapped it tight then tied it on again at the end. If that makes sense? :)

  6. Yes it does! Thanks! I'll have my eye out for CD'S for the future.

Or maybe even little pieces of tape on the back for kids who don't tie as tight?

  7. You might could burn notches with a wood burning tool to keep the yarn in place.
