Sunflowers

Inspiration: Post Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh's (1853 - 1890) still life paintings of sunflowers. These paintings were copied from Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers' (or Vase with Twelve Flowers), (1889).
My grade 5/6 class are studying the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh at the moment. I have chosen to recreate some of his most famous paintings with the students, beginning with his iconic sunflowers. As these students are of varying ability, I pretty much let them do their own thing with these. Some chose to recreate it as accurately as they could, whilst others chose to change certain elements of the painting to make it their own. Students also had their own choice of medium, however most used tempera paints.

Stay tuned, more Van Gogh inspired work to come!...
