These grade ones were working with the classroom theme 'food', so I couldn't resist some pop art style work about food inspired by artists like Claes Oldenburg (b. 1929) who made sculptures of food.
Each
student was given a small ball of air dry clay and instructed to sculpt their
favourite food in as much detail as they could remember. They turned out beautifully - especially after we painted them and scrounged up
some plastic lids and other bits and pieces for plates etc to display them.
