Grade 7 students created these Ancient Egyptian inspired carved tablets from plaster.
After studying the designs used in artefacts and heiroglyphics, each student drew a design on paper. We made a plaster block by mixing up plaster in the bottom of an icecream container. Once set, the plaster was popped out of the container, the edges were sanded and the students drew their designs onto their block in pencil. Carving tools were used to carve out their design and finished blocks were painted to look aged.
I did this with some of my 4th graders after school. They loved it. I'm going to do it with the whole class this year. I love this one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! Glad it was a success :)
ReplyDeleteI want to do this, but am having trouble finding cardboard tubes. Where did you find them to purchase?
ReplyDeleteHi there - I didn't use cardboard tubes for this project, but in any case I get mine from here:http://www.edartsupplies.com.au/Cardboard-Tubes-White-60pk.html
