Trapeze Artists

These Grade 3s were working with a circus theme in their classroom when they made these trapeze artists. The trapeze itself is just a straw with a piece of string threaded through and tied. The acrobats bodies were made from a simple template I cut for them of a body shape with arms above the head. The students added their own faces, hair, costumes, slippers etc with bright textas or oil pastels. Once they had cut out their acrobat they had to decorate the back the same except showing the back of the person's head etc. (Many found this quite tricky).
Once they had their acrobat completed they played around with all the possibilities for attaching it to the trapeze. Some collaborated with a friend. Once they had settled on how they wanted their trapeze artist we stapled or glued them to the trapezes and hung them from the ceiling. They looked very cool up there!

    1. Hi Wendy - no, sorry I don't have the template. I drew it up quickly myself about 5 years ago and haven't done this project again since.
